State Partnerships

Agencies and organizations, at all levels, have committed to working
together to help eliminate barriers – systematic, as well as physical –
to
accessibility of One-Stop Center services. These partner agencies include:
- Iowa Workforce Development
(IWD) whose primary mission is to improve the income
security, productivity and safety of all Iowans.

Iowa Department of Human
Services (DHS), whose mission is to help and empower
individuals and families to become increasingly self-sufficient and
productive.

Division of Persons with
Disabilities, whose mission is to encourage the employment of
persons with disabilities, by providing
information, referral services, and technical assistance for both
programs and employment issues.

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (DD), is a
federally-funded agency addressing the needs of Iowans with
developmental disabilities, and supports the development of services and
assistance needed to exercise choice and control over their lives.

Iowa Centers for Independent Living, seven
independent centers providing services for persons
with disabilities that include training, advocacy,
case management and policy analysis.

Employment Policy Group, a University of
Iowa affiliated program that promotes enhanced workforce services for
people with disabilities through grants and partnerships.
- Great Plains ADA/IT Center,
is Iowa’s arm of the
Regional DBTAC in Columbia, Missouri. In addition to serving in this role,
staff have been involved in impacting disability policy in Iowa.
- Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services
(IVRS),
whose mission it is to work for and with individuals who have
disabilities to achieve their employment, independence and economic
goals.
- Iowa Department for the Blind, provides
information and services to Iowans who are blind.

Iowa Association of Community Providers an association of
private, non-profit agencies that serve Iowans with disabilities in both
vocational and residential programs.
- Drake University Rehabilitation Institute,
provides post-graduate education in the field of rehabilitation and is
involved in research activities to develop better rehabilitation
outcomes for customers.
- Iowa Department of Education, serves the students of Iowa by providing leadership and
resources for schools, area education agencies, community colleges, and
practitioner preparation programs.
