Amusement Ride Inspections
The Division of Labor inspects
amusement rides and concessions at least once annually to assure
compliance with state rules. In 2008, the Division of Labor issued
110 permits and conducted 1,413 inspections.
An operator must obtain a permit from the labor commissioner before
operating any amusement device or ride, concession booth or any related
electrical equipment in Iowa.

Regulation of Inflatable Devices:
An earlier proposal to end regulation of inflatable devices has
been withdrawn.
New Insurance Coverage Limits:
New legislation increased the minimum amount of insurance for
amusement ride operators to $1,000,000. An application for
an amusement ride operator's permit received on or after July 1,
2009, must be accompanied by proof of a $1,000,000 insurance
